Best Ever Results!
Once again the school has improved its results.
The headline figures are:-
90% 5+ A*-C
55% 5+ A*-C Including English and Maths
This was a real team effort with the pupils and staff going the extra mile to ensure that everyone could be their best!
But its not only Year 11 who are celebrating, we got the first results from our vertical option groups which were also excellent over all.
Have a super last few days of the holidays everyone and we look forward to seeing you back in the new term.
Regards
Ian
Ends and Starts
As always this has been another full on week at Cherry, current Year 11s have been completing their final exams prior to their next big focus the Prom and I would like to take this opportunity to wish them all every future success. Good bye and good luck ladies and gents we will miss you. Of course we aren’t going to miss all of them as our Y12 students will be starting their post 16 studies on Monday.
3 Day Weeks / Cobalt Grey & VLEs
It’s been a disjointed start to the term, first a 3 day week then a 4 day week and now staff and pupils are looking forward to their first Monday in over a month. Despite this the pupils and staff have treated it as business as usual with a huge push on the exam groups. Well done to all of you!
Being on the Senior leadership team this week has been like taking part in an episode of 60 minute make over or changing rooms as we have been immersed in the relative merits of cobalt grey over sage green carpet, which is the warmest tone of oak for the furniture and are black computers faster than silver ones. Yes we have been doing the final choices for the new build which is now moving on at a high pace. The one definite thing I can say is, it’s going to look amazing.
Sawdust and a continental theme
The last few weeks have seen me revert to my default setting of Technology teacher and there doesn’t seem to have been a day that I haven’t gone home covered in dust. As I write the blog this week in the resistant materials room I can look around and see forty plus projects that are nearly complete where last week there was just lots of pieces of wood and that tells me that the students are nearly there and just need that final push and extra bit of support to ensure success.
First signs of spring
Sorry for the belated Blog this week, however it’s nice to know that people do read it and miss it when it’s late.
I always look forward to the spring term and among many other benefits it is nice to send the pupils home whilst it is still light. Another bonus of spring and the better weather is the progress that is being made on the building work. The new Maths and English rooms are complete with staff in place and the mobile classrooms are gone. As usual staff and pupils were brilliant and made light work of the changes. Contractors are now on site and are making huge progress on the Main block and now we can look forward to all of the benefits the improved building will bring.
