It was wonderful to see so many of you at the school last Saturday enjoying the facilities, competition and the wonderful weather. To see so many of the wider community at the school and everyone working together is really what I believe a school is all about. By engaging with parents and other community agencies we really can make a good school a great school and ensure that the school really is YOUR school.
Goodbye to year 11
We say goodbye to our year eleven students today. They have been working hard preparing for their GCSE examinations and I know many are coming to school next week to attend revision sessions. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them well in their exams and for the future. A small number of students will be staying with us to have some of the 6th form provision delivered here in conjunction with other partner this provision is likely to grow in the future. We hope you have a great prom tonight at the Lawn.
To say it has been an eventful term is an understatement to say the least. It is testament to the hard work of all the staff and our students that we have restored more or less normal working so quickly. I want to say a big thank you to you all!
Student of the week
This weeks student of the week is Katy Harris for all the help and support she has given Mr.Brewer in helping market the school to the local community. Well done Katy.

There are many staff who deserve praise for the wonderful way they have responded to the challenge of working under more challenging circumstances due to the fire. In particular I would like to thank ....

Weekly Update
World Cup Event
Tomorrow we will be hosting our world cup event at Cherry. I know lots of Primary school children will be visiting the site to have a great time playing football and getting involved in other activities. At around 1.30 we will be formally renaming the 3G The Keith Alexander Football Centre to help celebrate the life of Keith and all the magnificent work he did encouraging youngsters to get involved in football. Please come along if you can(more details are on the website) I know the youngsters will really appreciate it and you should hopefully be able to bask in the sunshine too! I would like to thank Gareth Hart and Scott Russell for all their hard work in helping make this event happen.
Exams
To help year 11 prepare for their exams staff have been working very hard running lunchtime, after school and half term revision sessions. Many staff have made an active contribution to these sessions and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work. Mr.Snee and Mr.Warnock (our new teaching appointments for next year) are also running sessions and they have not even started here yet so I am particularly grateful for their efforts. There will be a Maths sessions tomorrow for a selected group of students and at half term there will be English and Maths sessions. We will post more details of this next week. Mrs Roden- Davies has issued the students with a revision timetable for year 11 after half term. We will also post this information on the website. It is important for parents to note that as such study leave for students is no longer legal so the revision timetable for students after half term is part of the schools formal provision to support students.
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you tomorrow
Weekly Update
Fire progress update
We are gradually getting back to normal and we should have normal telephony services within around a week. We are making slightly better progress with regards to restoring our ICT services and we can receive and send emails but because of the lack of working PCs our response time maybe slightly slower. I have an important meeting next week regarding the building and will update you as appropriate.
Staffing update
We are delighted that we have appointed Miss Victoria Blackburn to teach Science next year. Vicky has already spent some time at Cherry as an ITT student and knows the school and its students well. Welcome aboard Vicky!
A moan!
I would ask all parents to ensure that students are in the correct uniform. In particular I would ask that parents exercise more vigilance over two issues
• The length of girl’s skirts these should be 2 inches above or below the knee. The skirt should be a plain a line skirt or pleated – not a puffball style or mini skirt!!!
• Trainers are not allowed to be worn at school with the exception of break time/lunch and during PE lessons
Students who do not comply with uniform rules are likely to be sent home.
