Trinidad & Tobago

Lying in the southern part of the caribbean is the country of Trinidad & Tobago. Cherry Willingham Community School have planed a project with Mason Hall Secondry School, to learn about cultural similarities and diffrences between the two schools. While there are many differences in our way of life and the two schools, there are also so many similarities that we have found between the students.

Through letters, Christmas cards and a slide show Cherry Willingham School have learned about the students in Mason Hall school on the island of Tobago. ay of life. For instance, we have learnt that Trinidad and Tobago like us are fans of their sports; particularly netball, football, basketball and most importantly cricket. Their school one the Tobago schools Championship last year!

School life is very much the same, they start at 08:30 and finish at 2:30 and they study many similar subjects to us, however the names are sometimes different (English literature and English language at Cherry Willingham would be called Literature of English and Language Arts. Children study from the age of 5 through to 18 and you'll be pleased to know they also receive a lot of homework!

There are many differences between the two places, one of which is definitely the weather and the summer heat in Tabago. Living in Trinidad and Tobago means that there is the opportunity to take part in many different activities including surfing, sailing or our favourite idea of relaxing on the beach. They even have a rainforest!

Over the next few weeks it will be the turn of Cherry Willingham School to write letters to our friends at Mason Hall Secondary School to teach them about our school and way of life. This is only the strat of the partnership and we hope that it contues to teach us new things that we can share with the community on a regular basis.
